GÖKHAN INLER – SWITZERLAND
GÖKHAN INLER
Napoli to Leicester City (2015)
Gökhan Inler is a central midfielder known for his stamina, physical power and exceptional striking ability.
After spending six seasons in Serie A with Udinese, and two seasons with Napoli (which twice won him the Coppa Italia), Inler joined Leicester for the 2015 – 2016 season. Here he worked under Claudio Ranieri, who saw in him the player who could stand in for Esteban Cambiasso.
Although he stayed for only one season with the Foxes, it was long enough for him to become imprinted in the club’s history for being part of the squad that won the miracle Premier League title in 2016.
Inler has played for the Swiss team 89 times and competed in the 2008 UEFA Euro Championship as well as two FIFA World Cups. During the last World Cup in Brazil (2014), he captained the Swiss team.
