DONI

DONI – BRAZIL

Juventude to AS Roma (2005)

Doniéber (“Doni”) Alexander Marangon from Italy was known for his unorthodox style of goalkeeping. He became one of the trailblazers for the transfer of Brazilian goalkeepers, such as Dida or Julio Cesar, to the continent.

After playing for five different Brazilian football clubs (Botafogo, Corinthians, Santos, Cruzeiro and Juventude), he moved to AS Roma in 2005. He played for Roma for six years, until 2011, capping nearly 200 matches for the Giallorossi, who won two Coppa Italia titles (2007 and 2008) and finished as runner-up in Serie A in the same years.

Doni played in ten matches for the Brazilian national team between 2007 and 2010 and was part of the Brazilian team that competed at the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa.
