MARCOS ALONSO

MARCOS ALONSO – SPAIN

Fiorentina to Chelsea (2016)

Marcos Alonso, who moved from Fiorentina to Chelsea for a record-breaking fee of £24m (unparalleled for a left-back), is the third generation of his family to play for the Spanish national team.

His father played for Barcelona with Diego Armando Maradona as well as Atletico Madrid, while his grandfather played for Real Madrid. All three Alonsos won League titles during their illustrious football careers.

A powerful left-back, Alonso has scored numerous astonishing free-kick goals with his left foot.

In his ongoing stint with the Blues, Alonso was part of the team that won the Premier League (2016-2017), The FA Cup in season 2017-2018, and the Europa League in 2018-2019.
